Dowagiac Police are asking for the public's help in a possible police impersonation case.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a woman driving near East Division and Colby streets said she thought she was being pulled over by police, and stopped because of red-and-blue flashing lights on the vehicle.

But three men jumped out, and one of them tried to open one of her doors.

The driver then sped away and notified police, authorities said in a news release.

The woman said the car was an older-model Buick or Oldsmobile last seen headed east on Dutch Settlement Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dowagiac Police at (269) 782-9743.

Recent similar cases that may have happened elsewhere should be reported to local authorities.
