MISHAWAKA — A shooting at a suburban Chicago shopping center killed a South Bend woman. Nearly a month later, the community is praying for Jeni Bishop's family.

Students in Catholic schools around the area are raising money for an education fund for Bishop's children.

Bishop's niece and nephew attend St. Bavo's School in Mishawaka.

St. Bavo's held a prayer service Monday, and students wore red, pink or white if they donated to the fund.

It's one of many events the community has hosted to help her friends and family cope.

“It's just amazing how everybody has turned this into something that's wonderful,” said Bishop’s friend Michele Talos. “Jeni is in heaven where she's supposed to be and the good news is that we get to meet her again up there.”

Police still haven't caught the man who shot her and four other women.
