South Bend police seek leads in hit-and-run that injured 2 men

SOUTH BEND — Police are investigating a downtown hit-and-run involving two pedestrians and a pick-up truck.

The incident occurred at 8:49 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the intersection of LaSalle and Michigan streets.

According to police, James Fox, 77, and James Rahilly, 70, were struck at the intersection by a suspect driving a possibly light green Ford F-150 pick-up truck. The vehicle suffered front-end damage with at least one headlight broken out, witnesses told police.

The suspect did not stop and was last seen traveling west on LaSalle.

Police spokesman Capt. Phil Trent said the two victims remain hospitalized with an assortment of fractures, lacerations and contusions.
