NOTRE DAME — Whether your kids look up to professional athletes on steroids or actresses with eating disorders, there are steps you can take to make sure they make healthy choices. The student government at Notre Dame is hosting its second annual body image conference this week, called Live As You Are.

The conference aims to raise awareness of the health and body issues affecting the Notre Dame community, but it’s also open to professionals and parents in the area.

This year’s event, formerly named the Eating Disorders Conference, will now expand the scope of its discussion and address issues of disordered eating as well as problems of steroid use, exercise and sexual addictions and male and female body image stereotypes.

“I know from my experience with my parents, it’s just so important to be involved in your child’s life,” said Notre Dame senior Brenna Doyle. “Also I think there are so many resources here in the community and on campus, and on any college campus, to seek out help for how to talk to your college student or high school student or even younger.”

The three day conference will run Tues. March 11 – Thurs. March 13. You can view more information or register to attend the conference
