SOUTH BEND — Police are investigating charges that a man molested a mentally disabled 17-year-old girl.

Police were called to a South Bend home at about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, where neighbors alleged that a man was having inappropriate contact with the girl.

Police questioned the man, who said the girl wasn’t there but in Indianapolis. Police then found the girl, who is said to have the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, hiding in a closet, according to reports.

No arrests were made, but officers from the department’s Family Violence Unit are expected to investigate, according to police.
