SOUTH BEND — Neighbors on South Bend's south side are in shock after someone opened fire Saturday afternoon.
Officer were called to the 500-block of East Victoria where they found multiple bullet holes in a home there. No one was hurt in the shooting, but two people were inside the home. The shooting left several bullet holes in their home.
A relaxing afternoon for Jerry Micinski and his son quickly turned to terror.
"But then a car went by and my son said it back fired. I heard, bang, bang, bang. I said no, it was gun shots. I opened my front door and looked out and nothing. I couldn't see anybody around," said neighbor Jerry Micinski.
All that was left was three bullet holes in his neighbor's house.
A pregnant woman and her brother were inside the home. Their mother asked not to be on camera out of fear. She says she couldn't help but think of the worst.
"Oh my God, I'm going to go bury my child, or which one got shot. That's the only thing that came to me," said the victims’ mother.
She thinks the violence in South Bend is getting out of control. She says those who get involved with it are left with very few choices.
"There's only two ways to go, dead or in jail. You know this is a real war right here,” said the victims’ mother.
The shooting is shocking to many people in the neighborhood.
"I'm going in the house right now. I'm pretty shook up," said Micinski.
"Something like this shouldn't happen in this neighborhood," said neighbor Ian Delater.
Ian Delater is one of many neighbors who considers this a quiet neighborhood ... a good place to raise his 2-year-old daughter. But he's starting to have second thoughts.
"Planned on living here for at least a few more years and now after this, I don't think we will," said Delater.
Police say a white Cadillac was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
More shootings came after
A resident in the 500 block of East Eckman Street told SBT24/7 News that more shots had been fired in the area early Sunday.
This latest episode came just hours after neighbors in the 500 block of East Victoria Street were shocked by a drive-by shooting on their street, just blocks to the north of Eckman.
Few other details were available shortly after midnight as police arrived to take a property damage report, but the shots hit at least one vehicle along Eckman.

I do not know WHY officials do not consider/handle gangs as terrorism. They are ruining our schools, our neighborhoods. They have NOT the right.
