Princess for a night for prom

What would a young girl do to become a Princess for a Night ... or better yet, get a dress for free?

Some local high school girls started lining up outside the College Football Hall of Fame at 3:30 Saturday morning, in 20 degree temperatures.

The doors to the fifth annual Princess for a Night opened at 9 a.m. And WSBT found it takes a lot to find the perfect dress.

"Just something that really jumps out at me like something like ‘Oh my God like look at her, she looks amazing.’ So something like that and not something too old looking and just really hip and young and stuff like that. It’s just one of those things like oh my god that's the dress,” said Brittany Nidiffer.

The Junior League of South Bend and Ziker Cleaners gave away 350 gently used prom dresses at Saturday’s event.

Simply because I qualify my congratulations for two sponsors doing a wonderful thing with the fact that I refuse to deal with one of them you don't publish it. I would think that it at least makes my commendation to the company a little more sincere because I am not letting personal experiences cloud the fact that they have done a good deed. After watching all the bashing you allowed on a couple of car dealers and other non-elected people I'm a little surprised you're being so thin skinned.

I had commemted earlier that this was an exceptional project and the sponsors should feel as good as they will have made the girls receiving the dresses feel. I guess it didn't sit well that I am not a fan of Ziker but I did commend them for their part in this project. Blocking this blog won't make me want to resume doing business with them but it does prove the point that if the media does not like what someone has to say free of speech can be revoked. Ziker earned my opinion and so has WSBT!

Bravo to the Junior League and Zikers!! I hope these girls have a magical evening at their proms! Obviously "Anonymous" hasn't bought a prom dress in a few decades! They are pricey and sometimes working part still doesn't put a girl in her "dream dress". Congratulations to both organizations for going the extra step!

To Anonymous...but you are belittling these girls! Many of them do have jobs, but because of school, they are limited to the hours they can work. Obviously it has been over 30 years since you purchased your prom dress...have you priced them recently? Have fun girls!! How's that for a thought?

Not to in any way belittle such a great organization that does this, but when I was in high school, I had a JOB!!! Do any of these girls work? The economy is not so bad that there are not jobs for teens, I know, I now have two. They both work as did I. My family did not have alot of extra money growing up so I got a job and paid for my own prom dress. Just a thought.
