A way to tell if your money is real is to hold it right up to a black light light bulb. You will be able to see the stripe glow. Each denomination has it's own color stripe. I learned about this while at a dance club where there was a lot of blacklights on. Your new photo id's have some unique invisible features too that can be seen only with a blacklight.

Who said that it was given to a cashier?? Wal-mart has self check out aisles, maybe it was used in one of those. You never know.

it may not have helped catching the one who used it. I gave a cashier a 20 bill and to my shock it was fake. Not funny when its your last bit of money for the week

the reason why this made the news is because this is about the 2nd or 3rd fake that has been found in the past few weeks. A few have been found in Michigan.

This is probably news to warn the other stores of this happening. I use to own a store and this happened to me plenty of times. So being a store owner I would want to be on the lookout for someone trying to get away with this. More than likely they are going to hit more than one store.

If anything, it just goes to show the stupidity of Wal-Mart. When I worked in retail, it was required that we check any bill that was a $20 or above to make sure it wasn't counterfeit. Not only did we use the markers, but also checked for certain things on the bill itself. Wal-Mart should have trained the cashier to check and, if they did train him/her, then it is the cashier's fault for not checking. They could have easily caught the person if they paid attention.

Wait okay, why is this news? I work in a grocery store and whenever WE get a counterfeit bill, no matter if it's a fake $10 or $100, and WE never get on the news. What's so special with this case? Did the guy get away with it or was he caught at the scene? If not, what's the point of the story anyway if you can't even come up with a description? LAME.

Don't they check the bills before hand? Nope they don't. I have watched. They don't check credit cards for I.D. I know because I handed the girl my wifes this weekend. Real poor on managements part training.
