SOUTH BEND — Two women who were suspected of robbing local pharmacies in the South Bend and Warsaw areas have been arrested after a Web tip provided through the South Bend Area Crime Stoppers Web site.
Crime Stoppers forwarded the information to South Bend, Warsaw and St. Joseph County police, whose investigations led to charges being filed against Sheila Burrington-Haecker of Elkhart and Kimberly Haecker of Wabash, Ind.
Burrington-Haecker already was in custody in Kokomo, and Kimberly Haecker was taken into custody last Thursday, police said.
Following the initial news release sent out the week of Feb. 18, the Crime Stoppers featured three local pharmacy robberies as the Crime of the Week. The robberies were Jan. 26 at the Walgreens at 1010 E. Ireland Road, two hours later at the CVS Pharmacy at 100 N. Detroit St. in Warsaw and Feb. 14 at a CVS in Granger.
RxPATROL and Crime Stoppers offered a reward Feb. 6 of up to $1,000 for information regarding the robberies in the area. As part of the Crime Stoppers partnership, RxPATROL will make a donation of $1,000 to South Bend Area Crime Stoppers to pay the rewards.
Purdue Pharma developed RxPATROL (Rx Pattern Analysis Tracking Robberies & Other Losses) in 2003 as a collaborative effort between industry, pharmacists and law enforcement to collect, analyze and disseminate information on pharmacy theft.
In 2005, Purdue partnered with Crime Stoppers and affiliated local anti-crime programs throughout the country to offer rewards for information that can help lead to the arrest of pharmacy robbery suspects.
The Crime of the Week segment was aired on area television stations, Comcast Cable and local radio stations and was printed in The South Bend Tribune. The Web tipster indicated he or she submitted the tip after seeing the segment on television.

Purdue Pharma, criminally convicted for misleading physicians and patients into believing OxyContin was less likely to be addictive and abused all pled guilty to the charges. Their actions resulted in a modern day Holocaust of addiction and death in every state in the country & they form RX Patrol to offer rewards for pharmacy break-ins? Why don't we just ask Charles Manson to help America's Most Wanted track felons to restore his name? Evil is just plain evil. Give me a break.
