WARSAW — Indiana State Police from the Bremen Post have released preliminary information concerning the apparent suicide of a jail inmate at the Kosciusko County Jail on Thursday.

Police said Quentin Gabriel Jones, 30, of Cromwell, Ind., was found hanged in his cell Thursday when jailers said he did not respond for his evening meal.

Jones was in the segregation unit, which is on lockdown for 23 hours a day, police said. He was the only occupant of the cell.

Police said no foul play is suspected, and that initial cause of death was asphyxiation due to the self-inflicted hanging. Jones was pronounced dead at the jail. His family has been notified.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death was performed Friday.

Jones had been incarcerated on a charge of burglary to a residence, a Class B felony.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and completed information will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County prosecutor for review.
