A robbery at Indiana University-South Bend Friday night prompted campus officials to alert students to the crime as police continue their investigation.

The incident happened at 7:25 p.m. when a student in a north lounge, on the first floor of the Weikamp Hall building, was robbed by two men, said Ken Baierl, IUSB director of communications.

The male student was knocked down and his wallet was taken, searched and returned to him.

"He complained of some pain but was not treated," Baierl said of the victim.

There were no other witnesses to the robbery.

"What we do then is alert the campus community that an incident has occurred," he said.

Messages include postings at each entry and exit, and mass e-mailings to faculty, students and staff.

"We also encourage them to contact campus police if they know anything about this incident," Baierl said.

Police continue their search for two white males in their 20s. One was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 150 pounds and wearing black pants, a sleeveless white shirt and a black coat.

The other is about 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown hair. He was wearing black pants, Baierl said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IUSB Police at (574) 520-4499.
