SOUTH BEND — If you like to dance and support a good cause, you'll have a chance to do that this weekend. South Bend's Center for the Homeless and IU South Bend are teaming up for a 24-hour dance marathon fundraiser.

Dance for the Homeless is an event where "dancers" will remain on their feet for 24 straight hours to show support for South Bend's homeless population. Other activities at the event do not require dancing — live bands, computer access, video game competitions, sports tournaments, socializing and plenty of eating.

Popular regional bands New Colossus (out of Chicago), Vyagra Falls, Still Shot and Blammo are the main stage acts. To see these bands perform, the community can buy a Miracle Pass for $50 (for up to 10 people).

All the money raised goes back to South Bend's Center for the Homeless. The dance marathon begins at noon on Saturday April 19 and ends at noon on Sunday April 20 at IU South Bend's Student Recreation Center.

Notre Dame alum and television celebrity Regis Philbin will help kick-off the event on Saturday, then at 6 p.m. he'll introduce the main stage entertainment.

For more information and to see how you can buy a ticket, visit the Dance for the Homeless website.
