NEW BUFFALO — A new park will soon be taking shape in New Buffalo. Phase one of construction on Oselka Park began Wednesday.

The phase is expected to be completed by August and cost more than $1 million.

The new park will include a multi-purpose pavilion with restrooms, a concession area and a picnic area, all of which are expected to bring more families to the community.

"This project has the potential of being the key facility in the city other than downtown for community gathering for other various community events,” said architect Harry Wierenga.

Sporting teams have already shown interest in the facility for larger tournaments.
