SOUTH BEND — Former Roseland Town Council member David Snyder was released from jail just before noon Tuesday after $25,000 was posted on his behalf, county police reported.

Snyder, 56, was jailed Friday by Magistrate Rochelle Cotter after a hearing on his continued child support delinquency.

The child support enforcement division of the St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office took Snyder back to court after receiving information from Texas in March that Snyder owed more than $84,000 in back support for his two sons living there. He had made no payments this year.

This stint in jail was Snyder’s third for child support since July. Then, Cotter ordered Snyder to jail for 45 days or until he paid 10 percent of the $104,000 he owed at the time.

He posted $10,400 and was released within a couple hours.

In November, Snyder was ordered to pay double that amount, or $20,800, or serve 45 days. He was released in a few hours when a friend posted the amount due with a credit card.
