PLYMOUTH — Plymouth High School Principal James Condon said police officers will be inside the school Friday as a precautionary measure.

The words came after Condon released information of a bomb threat at noon Friday at the school.

Condon said in a telephone interview Thursday afternoon that "we don’t have a need outside" for the police officers.

Officials determined a plan of action that also restricts the time students may enter the school Friday and by what doors.

Students will not be allowed to carry large carry-alls or backpacks into class.

Condon said no final exams are scheduled Friday, or any other activities which school authorities could link to a message written on a bathroom stall in the school that threatened a bomb "detonated at noon" Friday.

"There’s no relevance to this Friday," Condon said of the investigation into clues as to who would make the threat and why.

Police and school officials already have conducted a full search of the school, he said.

Condon spoke to students on the public address system Thursday morning about the situation. He is sending home letters to parents outlining safety precautions being taken.

Condon said he and his secretary have personally answered numerous inquiries from concerned parents Thursday to allay concerns.

He reiterated that students who have notes from their parents will be excused from attendance should they decide not to be in class Friday.

"We’re going to conduct business as usual," the principal said.

Teresa Smith, a mother of three boys, has a son who is a junior at the high school. Her thoughts were, initially at least, to keep her son home.

"I’ll probably let him stay home," she said, "for safety’s sake and peace of mind.

"But I’ll also get his input. He’s a junior, and he gets As and Bs, so I’m not worried about him missing. He’s almost an adult, so I’ll see what he’s thinking and how the kids are thinking about it."

Once again, all schools need to have security and metal detectors at all entrances into all schools.

Maybe they should set up security check points at all entrances to all schools everyday. Then everyone can have piece and mind that their children are learning safely and the ones not learning at least they will safe to write on here.;o)

dont mean a think and is a joke. The freshmen has a point. If the person is not in school they can run their car into the school. You have no right to say this is joke. So if you dont know the fact, do not open your mouth about it. And to the student saying no one was scared yesterday. I was petrified. People were walking down the halls yesterday holding hands because they were scared to walk alone. I have 9 days left in high school and I really would like to finish them.

To Skip and Ashley... Laville and Argos were both call in bomb threats that could be traced. The threat at Plymouth got into the school unnoticed. It was caught on camera and still they still have no idea. HA! there is no way Mr. Edison would allow a player on his team with that kind of attitude, spelling, and grammar. Any former athlete at PHS loves the school and is thankful they went somewhere that was good to play at. So everyone just needs to say this is a joke. I guess 1500 kids lives

Someone should check out that 10:59 am blog from "ha". It states that he/she HATED that school. Hated being past tense...seems that could be a huge clue (someone who was in the school or vicinity at the time, and was a student, teacher, or just worked at the school. Just thought that was an important piece of information left by that blogger.

This whole situation is ridiculious. What has this world come to?! Its crazy. Most people aren't really taking the bomb threat serious, but there is always that slight chance that it could really happen. I believe it shouldn't have been an option to go to school. They should stay home for saftey reasons. The school is just putting the students lives in danger, and showing they're not really serious about this whole situation.

Lets just all chill out about this. It has kind of been a crazy year for PHS. Could it be a kid who just wants to gt out of school yes 90% chance it is. But we are talking about a bomb, something that would kill alot of people. Why take the 10% chance of the risk to have lives taken? So, I would have to agree with the majority of students taking the day off on Friday 10% chance isn't small enough for me.

It's interesting to me that when parents used to spank thier kids and actually punish, thing's like this didn't seem to happen. I was spanked, had my mouth washed out with soap, smacked in the mouth, grounded, had all my privledges taken away, by today's standards my parents were abusive, however, I'm a upstanding citizen, a grad student getting a PHD, and I'm normal with a really good life, no real problems, except gas prices. Save a child, spank a butt!

Thursday, May 8 at 9:37 PM Ben wrote ...

It's just a dumb kid, with no friends, who wants a day off of school. Nothing more, nothing less. If someone was going to plant a bomb or shoot up the school they sure wouldnt write it so everyone would know. I don't know why they give these stories so much attention, it's what the little brat wants, attention.

They said they have monitored the passing periods from May 6th, and everyone who entered the bathroom in the English hallways. The bathroom it was posted in was by Mr. Buttons room. If it happens to be someone who is older, for all the school could know, whoever it was could crash their car into the school with a bomb in the car and set the bomb off while inside the school. The school just needds to think outside the box instead of worrying about everything inside the school.

Thursday, May 8 at 6:27 PM Phs Freshman wrote ...

I agree with a lot of the parents. You should be worried. No one knows for sure if it will happen or not. I would keep my kids home no matter what, I'd rather be safe than sorry. The school is messed up, they should have alert us the day it happened. For all they know, it could have happened today, since whoever posted the note knows all the students will be in school today. It is said to be someone who is not in high school who walked into a bathroom with a hoodie on with his hood up.

Please check out some dudes comment at 1:37 today...."send your kids to school the bomb isnt THAT big"??? that isnt suspicious at all....that really needs to be checked out. For everyone saying this isn't a big deal, lives are being threatened. Yes, there have been schools that have bomb threats like this. They were called in. Not written on the walls in the school and not been able to catch. Nothing may happen but what if it does. Who wants to take that chance.

I graduated in '97 from a school in the corn fields. No uniforms, no guns, no bombs. What has happened in the last 11 years? I know that I was brought up getting my butt busted by my parents when I screwed up. Guess what, no physical or emotional scarring today either. Never spent a night in jail. So parents, wake up and start raising your kids right. Or, go visit them in jail or the cemetary. Does anyone else agree?

Thursday, May 8 at 4:28 PM noah comeno wrote ...

trust me they were working hard to find the person who did it i was questioned to day about it as well as some of my friends and i think that is a good thing

yes, there was a bomb threat at Penn also, but the mother of that kid turned him in. Therefore, anyone who brings up Penn about it not being real...it was. He was just stopped before it actually happened. Plymouth high school is doing the right thing in letting students choose whether or not they want to attend school. Stop saying it's ridiculous because if something were to happen then the school would be in trouble because they didnt take the proper precautions.

It's funny how some of you say that nothing is going to happen. HOW do you know that nothing is going to happen?????? In all of the schools and colleges that have already been through this, they probably wish there was some kind of warning like these threats. Granted, there shouldn't be any threats at all and nobody should have to worry about going to school but now & days, you just can't trust people. Parents have every right to want to keep their kids safe from harm.

CALM DOWN. It is another copy cat situation, where someone wants attention or a day off. Parents quit 2nd guessing the schools. I AM POSITIVE if there was any chance of it being real they would keep the kids out. They have searched the building, will have police present, set a plan to limit bags inside, and notified you. It sounds like all is in hand. Do you want kids out everytime some prankster wants a day off. GET REAL.

Thursday, May 8 at 1:53 PM Mark E. wrote ...

The way that I see it, the school corporation is caught in a "catch 22". The likelyhood of an actual threat is minimal at best. The kids have seen this all over the media and know that it is a sure way to get out of class. The school can't dismiss any threat because even though the odd's are small, there is still potential for an actual event. Imagine if the school ignored a threat and something actually did happen. Anyone falsely reporting an event like this should be prosecuted.

Everybody is making a big deal out of nothing! My dad won't even let me come to school tomorrow, but I'm not scared. I think that whoever did it just wants an extra day off, that's why they picked a Friday, duh. Anyways.. to all you concerned parents.. direct your concern to something credible, like how your children's grade average is going to plummet if you keep taking them out of school for nothing.

Thursday, May 8 at 1:40 PM frustrated student at PHS! wrote ...

I understand that parents are freaking out right now, but the principal is sending a note home tonight and students do not have to go to school if they don't feel safe. They didn't say anything before now probably for our own safety. I'm sure they had their reasons why they didnt call every single person last night at home during dinner. And no they didn't lock down the school! The only thing that has happened is Mr. Condon made an announcement to tell us. He is doing what he can.

it is rediculous but look how other schools have made copy cat threats.the school has been checked and there has been nothing found. people need to calm down because the panic makes it all worse. as for the mom who recieved a text message from her son...why was he texting in school? and the threat was made for tomorrow and not today and since prcautions have been made, there is no reason to worry. The school is also taking extreme cautions tomorrow and it will be ok. People also need to grow up

Call off school Thurs. and Fri.,figure it out with no threat to students. I would be angry with the school if they knew on Wed. and I let my child go on Thurs.
