If you plan to steal a new pair of pants by walking out with them on, take your ID out of your old ones first.

Employees of St. Vincent de Paul Society's thrift store, 3408 Ardmore Trail, reported to police Saturday morning that a man apparently left wearing a pair of pants without paying for them.

The employees were alerted to the theft when a pair of men's pants were found in a restroom with a wallet and identification information in the pocket.

Police seized the discarded pants and other items as potential evidence in a shoplifting case.

We tried once again but after two weeks no one showed up so we contacted Goodwill and they came out in two days. When a neighbor noticed all the property in our garage she asked why it was still there. I expalined and she told me that her neice called for assistence and was given three or four other places to call for help and told if she didn't find any help by Monday to call them back. Maybe I just misunderstood the concept of this organization. Or saddly, things have changed just this much.

she had bough everything she could from the St. Vincent De Paul second hand store. She did this because she wanted to show her appreciation for their assistance when she lost her husband. Our dad passed away this past winter and we decided to donate everything that no one claimed back to St. Vincent De Paul. We were surprised by the lack of interest that was shown by the Thrift Shop so we called St. Pat's to see if they would like to have the items. They directed us back to the thrift store.

When my father was a child his dad was killed in WWII. The Society of St. Vincent De Paul played an important role in the survival of his family. They were looked out for by St. Patrick's church in S.B. When my grandmother passed she left everything to her son and we soon learned the story about many of the 'family heirlooms' she left behind. She had bought most of them from the St. Vincent de Paul Second Hand Store. Out of graittitude for their assistance during her most troubled times she bou

I am embarrassed for St. Vincent DEPAUL. This never should have been reported much less turn up in the paper. I have seen a steady decline in this organization since they moved from the downtown area. They won't accept appliances or furniture if they have to scale steps, the Thrift store is an eye sore;inside and out. I work with a woman who said that her daughter had contacted them on behalf of a neighbor in need and it took three days to get the food they needed. This is very disappointing.

Yes this is a crime. There is only black and white. But let's look at this head on. Talk to the guy. Hopefully he doesn't have a bad past. Make he do 1 hour of community service - which the pants probably cost a whole dollar. But St. Vincent should help someone if they need a new pair of shoes - wear your bad ones in and walk on with a newer/cleaner pair. He wasn't at Sears!

I can see how you might get confused. Two old pairs of pants, it might not be immediately clear which is which. I know I've been at a few parties and made the mistake myself. You try explaining to your wife at 3am why you're wearing a skirt, it isn't easy. This guy probably got off light.

I'm not saying what he did was right, but he need to pay for his crime by working it off in the store. I feal sorry for the guy you can tell that he's never done this before. Things are getting really bad with the gas prices and food prices going up and up and seeing no light at the end of the tunnal. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Just wait this will be more then just a ression its heading into a depression.

High school drop outs like Danica Patrick, Jim Carey, George Eastman (Kodak founder), Micheal J. Fox, George Gershwin, Wright brothers, Peter Jennings, Uma Thurman, Ansel Adams... and a yearly growing number of homeschoolers that admissions officers of ivy league colleges actually seek out? Not everyone defines success as, doing exactly as I was told and jumping through hoops on command until I had a degree and a salaried position created through a jobs creation scheme (like, say, school admin.)

Maybe he is another high school dropout??

Obviously, he needed the newer pants. Thats sad he felt he had to take instead of asking for the help. He only took one pair. I am not saying it is right but he must have needed them desperately. I to would be happy to pay for them.

If he is that hard up for a pair of pants and that stupid to leave his id in them he deserves them. The church is all about charity anyways, it's not like he stole money or a lot of items. You have to feel sorry for people like that.

The point that it was given to them don't mean a thing. If you need help and don't fit into their POOR PERSON status, you would have to pay for them. When I was a child we gave to them often. When our house burnt to the ground in 1977 we lost everything. Because my father made good money even though we had none at the time. They would not help my parents and 4 children. Not sure what your past yearly income has to do with present situation. Just my .02 cents worth. Signed never donate now
