SOUTH BEND — A former employee of the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility was sentenced Wednesday morning to six months in prison for having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old offender at the facility.

Judge Roland W. Chamblee Jr. also ordered Julie A. Singleton, 34, to be placed on probation upon her release.

Singleton pleaded guilty last month to one count of sexual misconduct in connection with the incident, which took place in October 2006.

both adults AND teenagers should know that it's not appropriate. i'm 16 years olds, and i know tons of girls my age who will sleep with anybody at any age. so shame on both the adult and teenager.

Linda, are you crazy? What do you mean age has nothing to do with it. Thats sick and twisted. When you are a grown adult sleeping with a CHILD whether you are male or female it is WRONG. She is 34. If he was 19 or 20 I would say well if thats what he chooses but come on he is 16. Any young male would be happy to be gettin it but that don't make it right. Your mind is twisted and if that was my child someone would have to be holding me back cuz all heck would be breaking loose.

Your right about that Ivy. A man would have gotten more jail time. I don't condone anything like this from either sex. Adults can and should make better decisions.

I'd like to know why she only got 6 months in prison. I wonder had it been a man choosing to violate a young offender and the public's trust (because of the office she worked for), he probably would have received more prison time. I realize people do make mistakes in life so maybe she should just keep it in her pants from now on.

How did she force him to have sex. I don't think so. Sounds like mutual entertainment to me! It might be wrong but he was a willing participant. He is just as guilty as her! Age has nothing to do with it! A 16 year old juvenile is not a little innocent kid. My god, girls are having babies at 13.

So, she will have to register as a sex offender right?
