DETROIT -- The 11-week strike between American Axle and the United Auto Workers could soon be over. There is a tentative agreement between the two sides.

A spokesperson who was briefed on the agreement says the auto part supplier has boosted its wage offer and increased payments it will give workers to take a wage cut.

The union says details will be presented to members in Detroit
Sunday. About 3,600 UAW members at five factories have been on strike since February over the company's demand for reduced wages. That includes the plant in Three Rivers.

Workers at the Hummer H2 plant and Nyloncraft -- both in Mishawaka -- and Warsaw's Explorer Van have been off the job because of the parts shortage.

i think it's crap. i had to miss a few days without pay because those lazy bums didn't feel like working. heck i have found empty beer cans packaged in with some of the parts we get from them on more than one occasion. seems to me like they are just a bunch of greedy drunk partiers.

It's about time! But beware, they may move to another country if the wages and benefits package is a strain on the company. Getting your way is one thing, but management will have the upper hand in the end. Before the strike, rumor was, the workers made $65 an hour.

I sure hope and pray that all gets settled. Everyone needs to get back to work so bills can get paid.
