EDWARDSBURG — An Elkhart woman is accused of killing her husband’s grandmother. It happened Saturday on Grange Street in Cass County, northeast of Edwardsburg.
Police are not talking about a motive because the case remains under investigation. But it certainly has shocked neighbors on the quiet street in Mason Township.
“She was just a really sweet old lady,” Hazel Bailey told WSBT News. “She wouldn’t harm anybody. She’d do anything for you."
Bailey lives right across the street from where the murder happened. She has known Margaret Bosworth for 34 years.
“[She was] telling me all the time, several times a week, that she was glad we were here because it made her feel safe … and it didn’t do her any good, us being here,” Bailey said.
Police say a family member found Margaret Bosworth dead in her house.
“At that time, the hospital contacted us and they had found stab wounds on the chest of Mrs. Bosworth,” said Capt. Linden Parish with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
That’s when the case turned into a homicide investigation. Investigators followed the clues to Elkhart, where they arrested Elizabeth Bosworth, the wife of Margaret Bosworth’s grandson.
“It was just part of our investigation, as we got further into the homicide investigation, she came up as a suspect,” Parish explained. “And then we were able to talk with her and find other evidence to hold her on the open murder charge that we have her on right now.”
Bailey says Margaret Bosworth was active for her age. She can’t believe she will no longer see her neighbor take her daily walks down the road.
“It’s just been a really hard day, a really hard day,” Bailey said. “Just because she was such a nice person; she didn’t deserve that.”
Elizabeth Bosworth is currently in the Elkhart County Jail, but she'll soon be brought to Cass County to face murder charges.

Judging from this picture, it doesn't look like this person should have been allowed out in public in the first place. What a head-case!
