ST. JOSEPH COUNTY — Two people died in a single-vehicle accident south of Mishawaka Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the two victims were 77-year-old Irvin Losicki and his wife, 86-year-old Ilene Losicki, of Mishawaka

According to police, Irvin Losicki was driving south on Dogwood Road when he lost control of the car, causing it to go into a farm field and flip over.

Ilene Losicki was thrown from the vehicle and Irvin had to be cut out by the fire department. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe Irvin may have had a medical condition that caused him to lose control. One witness told police the car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Dogwood Road and Kern Road before the crash.

An autopsy was ordered to determine if Irvin suffered from a medical condition prior to the crash.

I'm sorry to disagree, I KNOW MANY who will be affected when "this next generation" dies. Think how idiotic you sound in your post. God Bless the family of the Losicki and hold them close during this time of pain.

This is a SAD story. Did you know that the State of MI (DMV) just renewed my 95 yr old grandfathers lisence after taking the eye test! He has had numerous eye surgeries, and yet he can't see very well, nor can he hear well, but yet they still gave him a lisence!!! I fear for his safety, as well as those driving with him. It's all about the money people. The eye chart has 3, 1 inch letters on the top row, and if you can see them, you pass the test. Grandpa stopped driving due to heart problem

4:26 Anonymous.I'll be 61 next week, have NEVER gotten a ticket, have only been stopped once, tail light I didn't know was out. 1 accident,a TEENAGER hit/totaled my car,(I was 31).From what I've seen on WSBT they should test the teens ONCE A MONTH. If you are as young/inexperienced as you sound I know I can safely out-drive you any day. So,put down the cell phone, fast food,CD's,etc, keep both hands on the wheel, obey the speed limit.Maybe you will live long enough to realize you don't know it all.

To 3:44 Anonymous... Maybe you should stop watching Jerry Springer and get in touch with real 30 and 20 year olds! I am a mid 30 stay-at-home mom of 3 who homeschools and takes care of 3 elderly neighbors out of the kindness of my heart. I know very few people my age and younger who are like those you describe. I guess if I watched Springer and the likes all day I would think that the younger generations were all a bunch of losers. Good thing I know better! Train a child in the way he should go~

How sad to see a couple die in such a tragic way and to know that the family is going to have to deal with the loss.. I know that if my parents had their wish they would both die at the same time because neither of them wants to live without the other... best friends for over 40 years. May God bless the family at this time~

My thoughts & prayers are with the family of this couple. It is so difficult to say goodbye, especially under traumatic conditions. Dear "9:54AM ME"...any age driving with cell phones make me nervous...everything else you said. Also, to "3:44P.M.Anonymous" I have no idea how old you are but I qualify for the Senior discount. I can think of lots of members of the "current generation" who do not fit into your stereotype and will be missed a lot. I feel very sorry for you.

Im sorry but I personally believe the older generation should be tested for driving once a year after the age of 60. They are one of the leading casue for accidents becuz of the pace they're going, just not paying attention, or forgetting what they are doing. I see it all the time.

The generation that was able to cut back, conserve, grow victory gardens, etc. during WW2 are gone. A generation of snot nosed, bratty, inconsiderate, mean spirited, self absorbed, day time tv watchin' Maury Povitch/Jerry Springer ghouls in wife beater tee's replaces them. No one will miss the current generation when they go.

My sorrow goes to their familys, no one wants to loose a loved one under those conditions but elderly people driving with health conditons honestly make me nervous because not only their in danger but everyone around them aswell.

As the baby boomers get older we will unfortunately see more of this. I know my dad doesn't drive as well as he use too. It's hard to watch loved ones get older. I feel for the family but at least they went together. Most elderly couples who have enjoyed 50 years together can't handle it when their best friend dies.

After reading this the problems I woke up with this morning don't amount to a hill of beans right now. There are times when you have to just own up to what is really important in this world, and tend to those things while you have a chance. Like saying, Thank you, I love you, I'm sorry, I forgive you...
