PLYMOUTH — Plymouth police are warning Michiana residents about what appears to be a national Internet scam.

Cpl. Ray West said he’s investigating a complaint by a local man of bogus charges being billed to his credit or bank account.

"They’re billing private individuals, or debiting directly out of their bank accounts," West said.

West named three companies, Wolfen Solutions, Superior Technologies and Synergy Design Solutions, believed to be involved in the scam .

West said when he performed searches on the three, he was able to locate an 800 phone number for one. A recorded voice responded to his call, he said, directing the caller to use e-mail to contact the company. He said he also doubts that those names are legitimate.

"They (the companies illegally making the charges) are billing or taking $10 or $11 at first," West said. "Once they see that no one is noticing, or complaining to the bank, then they take you for all you’ve got."

West said his investigation has turned up a national network of victims, and he’s warning residents to watch their credit card and bank account statements closely, especially for the smaller charges.

"We just want people to keep an eye on it," he said. "Anyone noticing anything that just isn’t right should contact their bank or credit card company immediately."

Well what do you expect. The only people who are actively involved in responding to junk on the internet are freaks, weirdos,and..uh...wait a minute, I'm responding to...uh, never mind.

what are they trying to sell or what is the bogus info they are conning people with? this should be made more clear, because they can just change the name of their company.

The Iraq war costs money. Gotta pay for it somehow. Real criminals aren't this elaborate or competent.

Location is Texas. From the quick check I did it looked like something to do with H&R Block but from the other things I checked into they could be using this as a front for something else. This was just a quick check so I can't be for sure.
