ELKHART — The Elkhart County Health Department has suspended the food service license of the New North Garden restaurant, 2900 Cassopolis St.

Reasons for the suspension Thursday were low sanitation scores on consecutive inspections, numerous repeat violations, several critical violations of cleanliness of food contact and non-food contact surfaces, temperatures of potentially hazardous food and hygienic practices such as hand washing.

The restaurant will remain closed until it is in total compliance with the retail food establishment sanitation requirements and all other state and local laws pertaining to food service, according to the Health Department.

I was in a meat butchering shop and the lady was gouging into the raw hamburger with bare hands filling customer orders and then operating the cash register. I made a comment to her about this and she said she cleaned her hands with bleach between times. She was a frickin liar. Never buy meat there again!!!

35 years ago I delivered to area resturaunts and the degree of cleanliness in all of them varied a great deal. The most disgusting thing I ever saw was a woman, who's hgusband owned the place, sneezed into her apron and a few seconds later wiped the knife she was chopping vegetables with on the same apron. This was a premier place to eat then, and is still quite popular to this day. The woman has long since passed away...but I still can't eat t here.

Oh yea foodman because no one ever got sick on spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, ground beef or any other food product they purchased at the store to take home and prepare themselves. If people want to reduce risks, grow your own, and there are still no guarentees!

good, they need to close even more. Some people just don't care anymore. Untill its their turn. Wash your hands, you learn that at the age of 3 years.

Your best and safe way is to stay home and fix and eat your own prep food.
