ARGOS — There's nothing like a parade on the Fourth of July, and people lined the streets of Argos to take part Friday morning.

Politicians also made an appearance. Indiana Democratic candidate for governor Jill Long Thompson participated in the parade along with her mother-in-law, who was the Grand Marshal this year.

Long Thompson says it's a great way for her to connect with people.

“This is the fun part of campaigning because it is an opportunity to be out and talk with people in a very informal setting,” she said. “But also the celebration of our nation's independence is something I think all of us hold very near and dear in our hearts.”

Long Thompson will face incumbent Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels in the fall. He's already been advertising heavily on TV in our area.
