SOUTH BEND — A burning garage brought firefighters to the south side early Saturday morning.

A garage at 506 South Phillipa was fully engulfed when responders arrived. As crews began to extinguish the fire, the roof of the garage collapsed, authorities said.

The garage was a total loss, according to authorities.

Another fire, at 909 E. Dayton Street, was extinguished quickly. Investigators say the fire started in the dining room of the two-story vacant home.

Both incidents are under investigation. No one was injured in either fire.
