Police are looking for a man who stole a car at gunpoint in South Bend early Sunday.

The carjacking happened about 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Johnson Street on the city's west side, city 911 dispatchers said.

No one was injured in the incident.

The victim described the gunman as a black male in his 20s, wearing a white shirt and blue shorts. He was last seen driving the tan 1997 Mazda Protege west towards Olive Street.

Maybe if the mayor or our judges were to take a walk on the westside streets at night (with no protection, of course), we could get some action.

It's probably because the cops are too busy responding to noise violations, or smoking violations or seat belt violations or illegal dumping violation, or illegal parking violation, or under age drinking violation!! I don't mind the occasional car jacking!! I just get sick and tired of being worried about getting pulled over for speeding 5 miles over or not wearing a seatbelt or my muffler being too loud! Gosh, they pull you over for anything these days! They need the funding! They know it!

Maybe if someone from Granger or the other side of town gets robbed, beaten or car-jacked on this westside we'll get some action. Or maybe not.

Here we go again. Why don't they pass a frisking law and check each and every person for weapons. Since we can't profile, heaven forbid it is illegal, keep it fair. Also, for those with legal weapons let them be sworn deputy officers just in case they are around at the time of a criminal act. South Bend is worse than the wild wild west days. I'm ashamed to live here. Be brave and take a ride on the west side and the north west side.

I fail to see what the local government has to do with a criminal that makes the decision to jack someone's car at gunpoint. Giving out free cars is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Shall we give everyone free gas too? I'm very sure that I'd rather have my tax dollars go to feed the homeless, NOT the car less.

We are not worried about gas prices. We are afraid to drive.

It's too bad the victim didn't have a gun to blow this piece of trash off the face of the earth.

Well for the last comment, I will have to agree. The judges, clerks, city officals have to make a living. If they keep everyone behind bars that commit a crime, then what do we need them for?

I'm sure his rap sheet is longer then his resume. Saint Joseph County Catch and Release. Same ol same ol. Keep Voting Democrat and keep our appointed Judges. Things will never change.

Lots of states give you the right to shoot in self defense if someone "carjacks with a gun. South Bend is way out of control. The west side is getting as bad as Iraq! The local Government turns a blind eye again and again.

What South Bend needs is a federal funded program to give anyone who needs a car free of charge, this would stop all these types of crimes. They will need to piggy back on this program to supply an unlimited supply of those who needed a car. I sure the goverment can find something to tax the poor working citizens on to make things more fair for all.

It seems like in these cases that the description of the suspect is always the same hmm. Probably because they just keep letting them out of jail and they go and do it again till they murder someone. But they will still get released for murder wierd.
