MISHAWAKA — The Mishawaka Fire Department responded to a suspected arson at a Little League dugout Sunday evening.

Witnesses told police they saw three to four juveniles running from the area of the burning dugout at South West Little League, according to authorities.

Police said the small fire was the Little League’s third of three dugout fires in the past weekend.

There did not not appear to be any damage to the dugouts as a result of the fires.

I suppose it's possible to say that when they spray painted every inch of the park they were doing paint by numbers and the brush slipped too, but that's not the case. They were not doing fireworks, they intentionally set those fires just like they broke into the buildings, stole everything they could get their hands on, and caused as much damage as they could...multiple times. This costs this park a ton of money to replace and repair. It's sad that these kids have no regard for others.

Sad commentary on our society here. Lack of parenting due to work requirements? Lack of parenting due to lack of interest? Lack of activities in their area due to funding cuts? Lack of direction due to a faltering education system? Certainly, these actions are a symptom of a societal "illness", but with so much going wrong, hard to pinpoint just what it is. Definitely a sad situation, though. Hopefully if they catch the kids, they can be put in a program that teaches them something useful

when and if these kids are caught...they should have there hands placed over some fire..maybe that will get the point across...

Are they sure these kids were setting fires and not just lighting fireworks? Fireworks are legal in Indiana but I think we need to join states like NY and GA and ban all fireworks!

FYI, the Little League changed it's name a little over a year ago to Mishawaka Little League (no longer Southwest)This LL has always had its issues of vandals, break-ins and theft; and what a shame when this park is the only LL left in Mishawaka, not to mention they are ran mostly by volunteers who will have to take the time to clean up this mess. If the brush and "woods" were cleaned up by the city -makes less opportunity for this to happen because the area would be more visible from Dragoon

How sad these kids feel they need to destroy everything! My daughter plays at South West Little League. They have had numerous break-ins and vandalisms over the summer, now attempted arson!!!! These kids are little criminals, thugs! What's next - a garage, a house? It's a shame these kids aren't supervised. They and their parents should be held accountable. When caught they should be made to clean & maintain the park for the next 5 years!!!! How very, very sad!

I wonder if these kids play baseball. I'm guessing they don't, or they would have some more respect for the ball field. Speaking of which, where are your kids tonight?
