SOUTH BEND -- Barack Obama opened up a campaign office in South Bend Saturday as part of his bid to be president. It's in St. Joseph County's democratic headquarters downtown.

Office volunteers will canvass neighborhoods, participate in parades, and try to earn the support of Hoosier voters.

The campaign said they believe Obama can take the state in the November election. "I didn't come to Indiana to force Senator McCain to spend money here," said Shailen Bhatt of the Obama Campaign. "I came to Indiana to win."

The Obama camp plans to open 25 campaign offices in Indiana.

Experts say this is a bit unusual because candidates usually open their first offices in stronghold states. But party leaders expect both candidates to change the game by investing a lot of time and money in states that have gone to their opponents in the past.

Republicans say John McCain will also open offices in the state.

Yea it was $1.45 when Bush entered office, and will be about $1.95 when he leaves office. Account for a general 3% yearly inflation rate on normal goods, and you are left with an increase of 15 cents while Bush was in office (after inflation gas would be about $1.80). All of us realize this number is ridiculous, but so is just throwing out the fact that gas was $1.45 when he entered office.
