INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments for Aug. 14 in the case of a Lakeville man, Jeffrey Pelley, convicted of killing his family.

Pelley was convicted in 2006 of the murders of his father, stepmother and two stepsisters in 1989.

He was charged in 2002 after prosecutors reopened the case.

In April, the Indiana Court of Appeals reversed Pelley’s convictions on the grounds that prosecutors had taken too long to take him to trial.

In accepting transfer of the case, the Supreme Court could overrule the appellate court decision. If it affirms it, then Pelley would be freed.
