If this driver doesn't get significant jail time, it's a slap on the wrist. You can't hit somebody and then leave them for dead. 12:22 Anon: I disagree. If bikes rode against traffic, there would be much more bike-car interactions, and it would be harder for cars to get around bikes. If a car's going to hit you, being able to see it coming won't help much. Cyclists move much faster than walker. All anyone has to do is sit near one of the two 25mph school zone (during school hours) sections on cleveland, hardly ANYONE obeys the traffic control device. Everyone is in such a hurry. Here's a tip people your not as important as you think you are and clearly unable to manage your time effectively! When I was a kid we were taught to stay out of the street because of the danger of cars not being able to see or stop in time. Now even kids are encouraged to play in the streets. Don't people care about safety anymore? Thursday, Jul 17 at 10:39 AM Linda wrote ...How can you hit someone and just leave. I don't know how your conscious doesn't eat away at you. Who knows what happened. Maybe the driver was wrong. Maybe the bike rider veered over in front of him. It happens but the issue here is he hit someone and just left the scene. I can't get over that. I will pray for this young man to have a speedy recovery and know that many people do drugs/drink and get behind the wheel. I am training for a marathon right now, and where I run, some cars do not even steer clear of me. In fact, some steer towards me! Happened on Sunday. There needs to be a law in place prosecuting people who just attempt to hit civilians in their vehicles. It is just ridiculous! Lock em up for good! Thursday, Jul 17 at 3:35 AM Someone wrote ...I am sorry for the guy on the bike, but I think the driver didn't stop because he/she was scared. It was early in the morning and the driver could have been really tired and didn't even see what he/she hit. He/She could have thought it was an animal or something. Although I think the driver should have turned around to see what they hit. When I learned to ride, that was the proper way to ride a bike. Like walking always against traffic. Wednesday, Jul 16 at 10:17 PM Goshen wrote ...Tom Lipton, it does not matter who was at fault. You do not leave the scene after hitting someone, no matter what. How this creep could leave someone laying in the road is beyond me. I almost hope he gets hit himself, and they leave him there to die. Wednesday, Jul 16 at 5:25 PM Anonymous wrote ...hey- try working out there. Yeah, thats it. Wednesday, Jul 16 at 3:37 PM Anonymous wrote ...I bicycled this stretch of Cleveland a few weeks ago and can't imagine riding in the road here. It's too busy. No matter how careful one is, it is too dangerous to ride on a busy street like this. I hope he is OK and makes a full recovery. Adam I do agree with pretty much everything you said. The driver should have stopped, but I'm glad we agree that Cleveland is not the road to be biking on.
