SOUTH BEND — Police are investigating a burglary and fire at a South Bend business.

The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. at Veldman's Auto Parts in the 25900 block of State Road 2.

St. Joseph County 911 dispatchers said the fire was under control by 5 a.m. and no injuries were reported.

Shortly after the fire was extinguished, detectives discovered that 10 catalytic converters were taken from the store. Investigators believe the fire was set intentionally to cover the burglary.
