Sheriff, former resource officer say Penn is unsafe

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY ― For the first time since he was asked to leave his position as Penn High School's resource officer, a St. Joseph County Police officer is sharing his side of the story. Cpl. Dave Sult says the school is not any safer than when he left 9 months ago, and the Sheriff agrees.

It's been an up and down season for the Fighting Irish, and--with the season now wrapping up--some local businesses say it's also been a roller-coaster ride for their bottom lines.

South Bend Common Council details proposed public safety cuts

SOUTH BEND — The final projections are in, and the numbers add up to only one thing: major cuts to public safety in South Bend. Up to 40 police officers and 53 firefighters could be on the chopping block if new revenue isn't found.
