Crews battle South Bend house fire

SOUTH BEND — A garage fire on South Bend's near west side quickly spread to the attached home and another garage early Sunday.

South Bend 911 dispatchers said the fire, first reported about 12:30 a.m., was in the 1000 block of DeMaude Avenue. That's between Portage Avenue and Riverside Drive.

There were no immediate reports of injuries as crews continued to work at the scene.

Neighbors told 24/7News the fire was growing, and firefighters battled the blaze with aerial equipment and numerous personnel.

The cause of the blaze had not been determined as crews remained at the scene.
