SOUTH BEND — A 21-year-old South Bend man was arrested late Sunday on suspicion of dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.

About 11:30 p.m., South Bend police were dispatched to the 100 block of East Milton Street, near Riley High School, on a report of suspicious activity.

There, officers observed two vehicles parked on opposite sides of the street, engaged in what appeared to be a drug deal.
While questioning two suspects, officers noticed two plastic bags containing a green leafy substance, later identified as marijuana, inside one of the vehicles.

After admitting the drugs were his, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana (5.6 grams) and dealing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.

Two other men who admitted to seeking to buy drugs were released.
