BARODA — A Benton Harbor teacher is facing charges for assaulting a social worker.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Carlye Anne Bushen Monday night at her home on Third Street in Baroda.

A Child Protective Services worker was investigating a previous assault at the home. An officer was also there to help.

That officer says Bushen charged the CPS worker with a closed fist and he had to stop her.

Bushen now faces felony charges and up to two years in prison.

If the police or government do not have proper evidence to charge a parent with a crime then they should mind their own business. I don't know of anybody that would just stand there and invite CPS to take their child. Please listen to my side of the story before you judge me. Also I was convicted and sentenced by Judge Wiley who is on tether for drinking and driving on more than one occassion. While i was in jail, several ladies became my friend because they know what Cindy Wallace is like. They had similar stories of her abuse of power. Not everyone in there was innocent of abuse, but they know what she's like.

I have met many a social worker who deserved to be smacked. They are not all innocent and do not always have the childs best interests at heart. If someone is pysically or sexually abusing their child, it is a case for the police, not CPS. This word Preponderance, a legal precept, is your enemy. Preponderance of the evidence means that in the good judgment of the judge, the evidence presented indicates that a child has been harmed. Unfortunately, It is the PS worker who writes up a list of pieces of evidence that is called a petition. Often this evidence is presented ex parte meaning the alleged perpetrator is not present to defend him or herself. A lot of this so called evidence is the PS worker stating their opinon.

No one is saying she is a bad person. It sounds like her behavior has really changed within the past year which has affected her children. CPS may take kids when needed. However parents are given the services they need to get them back (if they choose) at the cost of the state not hers. Please get your facts straight people. First CPS workers risk their life everyday trying to protect the kids in our community. Most have had knives, or guns pulled on them or even assaulted.
