SOUTH BEND — Police say a shooting early Thursday morning led to a car chase through the city that ended in a crash.

The incident began at Lincoln Way and Twyckenham, where a passenger in a black sedan shot at an SUV. A passenger in the SUV was shot in the arm, and they began to chase the sedan. Another passenger in the SUV called 911.

The chase ended near Rum Village, at Highland and Carlisle, when the sedan struck a building, police say. Occupants of the sedan ran away, and K-9 units were then used to search both vehicles.

Two people were located during the search, but released by authorities a short time later.

The victim was transported to a local hospital.

But all day and all night every day and night the tv says that violence is neat. Why can't you people make up your minds?

How many guns are out there that are not registered and they are being used to shoot cops and gangs and other innocent people who are sitting in a living room watching tv and then the bullet enters through the window and hits the child who was playing along with his other sibblings. this guns need to be register and if any person who is drinking or on drugs then they should not be able to use this weapons. They are deadly and causes so much pain.

Where is the mayor? Why he is busy drafting the police and fire safety tax that is going to be implemented, of course!

I would have to say that I would have done the same as them and follow them. At least you have a better chance for them to get caught. As long as my wound wasn't too bad anyways.

How can you call yourself free when their are parts of the city in almost every city in the land you can't walk through at night without fear? America in the 21st century; and you are off limits to parts of your city. How can you be so indifferent? How were the good Germans able to be indifferent?

I agree. We are looking at buying a new house and we are actually thinking of leaving South Bend. The mayor and the police do not have any control of what is going on. Where has the mayor been through all of this???????

Dont this people sleep at all? early shooting is something to think about. There should be hours late or at night that shooting should happen. Now, this shooters are sleeples and ready to get someone. Are they really dreaming or thinking they are having nightmares in be so they star shooting at people. Somebody should interview this people what is the reason for shooting so early may be they have delusions or have enemies that get up`early. Someone has to find out.

It's time to move out of South Bend like most of the city police have. This is a dangerous city and getting worse.

We need a new police dept in South Bend. I am not sure who is more out of control....the police or the criminals. Either way, the current police dept is not the solution.

How can you praise a man for killing someone for a stupid reason. He was the dummy that jumped into the vehicle without back up. I agree, we need to put a stop to crime, but shooting every petty criminal? Come on.

haha, everything needs to "add up" and "make sense" to everyone even when it's barely any of their business. read the story, absorb the news and go about YOUR LIVES. jeez, does every story that happens in Michiana have to be examined by the Common Armchair Home Detective?

If I got shot I don't think I'd go chasing after the shooter - I'd go to the hospital. Then the people who supposedly did the shooting are caught and then released? This story sure isn't adding up. Odds are the person shot knows who shot him. I'd wait a little while and then go after the shooter when he was alone. We all know these guys are tough in a group but chickens by themselves. Let them shoot each other up and we may have less butt holes eventually.

Lincoln Way and Twyckenham? Let me take a wild guess that the Wooden Indian was somehow involved.
