JEFFERSON TWP. — A driver attempting to pass another vehicle lost control of his car and struck a tree just after midnight Saturday, police report.

Russell Brown of Edwardsburg was approaching Davis Lake Street from northbound M-62 when he began to pass another driver.

As the other driver turned left at the intersection, Brown’s vehicle left the road, crashing into a tree. Brown, 47, and Sandra Stow of Cassopolis were trapped in the car for a short time. Both were taken to a local hospital, police said.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
