Tippecanoe Valley student dies after gym class accident

AKRON — A local high school student has died after an accident that happened during gym class.

The Tippecanoe Valley High School junior was outside on the school's track when she was accidentally struck by a classmate on a bicycle.

Staff members performed CPR until emergency crews arrived.

She was taken to a hospital in Warsaw and later transported to Fort Wayne, where she passed away Wednesday night.

Right now the family is not releasing the student's name.

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation has counselors at the school to assist students and staff.
