KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Police believe fatigue may have played a role in a single-car accident on East State Road 14 Friday morning.

Police say 22-year-old Ryan Sparks of Warsaw was eastbound on SR 14 E when he left the road and struck a utility pole and a tree around 7:47 a.m.

Sparks told police he was headed home from working the midnight shift but does not remember anything about the crash.

He was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with head and chest injuries. He is listed in serious condition.

The results of blood tests are pending, but police believe fatigue was to blame, according to the police report.

Nothing wrong with praying for folks. In fact it is the only thing that will keeps some of them safe, a praying mom/dad! Son #2 had a near incident that could have been just like this. Long day/night at work, fell asleep at stop sign though. Cop came up and asked him if he could follow him home. Scared him awake! He has a job that is at a place that is 24/7/365 and he had worked 20hrs or so because of an emergency. For us it turned out OK. At 22 it just proves no one is invincible, be safe!

I'm curious if you are a product of local schools Doug James (are you on drugs or alchohol)? . I'm far from perfect. The place I worked paid an extra $1 an hour for the 3rd shift. I needed it.

people are driving all day and all night trying to get away from all kinds of personal problems like not being able to provide for their families and all bill piling up and no job insight. So they keep driving and looking for jobs that probable do not exist. I am in prayer for this poor people that I hope they were not in drugs or alcohol.. if so,, then their problem is even deeper because they spend their last penny on boos. Let us pray for all of them and their families.

It was a blessing that he didn't have anyone with him and his mostly on the passenger side of auto otherwise I'm sure his family would be planning a funeral instead of praying for his recovery. I pray he will be ok.

Thank goodness he was driving a big size car - probably save his life. Good luck.
