Jonathan Rodgers from North Manchester received the Purple Heart Thursday night. He is a member of the 293rd Infantry's Alpha Company based in Warsaw. He and Spc. Jeremiah Deyarmin from Crown Point were honored at their base in Iraq. A roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle during a convoy mission. “We were just rolling down the road and we didn’t catch it in time,” Rodgers said. “We were getting ready to key it up on the mics, to let everybody know. But before we got a chance it went off and after that it’s a blur.” For video of the awards ceremony, click on the link in the Related Content box. Most PopularMore Good Stuff |
