Warrants are being sought for the arrest of two Berrien County men, one from Weesaw Township and the other from Buchanan Township, after 239 marijuana plants were seized from various locations in the townships of Weesaw, Buchanan, Bertrand, Niles and Three Oaks.

Narcotics officers with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department said the plants, with a street value of $1,000 each, were discovered at the end of July and earlier this month through the Operation HEMP (Help Eradicate Marijuana Plants) program. Also seized were five firearms.

Police said the Weesaw Township man, 45, is facing charges of manufacturing marijuana, second offense; possession of marijuana and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Buchanan Township man, 48, will be charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
