Money names St. Joseph, Mich., a top retirement shore town

Best places in the country to retire? Think St. Joseph, Mich., according to the 2008 short list released by Money Magazine.

If you're looking to retire along the waterfront, "A Special Place on the Lake" made this year's list, and CNN Money features a video clip with resident interviews and familiar quality-of-life scenes.

Reasons for including St. Joseph on this year's list of six shore locales include proximity to Chicago, access to quality health care and active lifestyle.

Other waterfront towns named by Money include Beaufort, S.C., and Marble, Texas.

St. Joseph ranked fifth on the list, boasting sunsets and "all the charm of the seashore, only without the stinging jellyfish, blanket-to-blanket crowds and impossibly high home prices."

One drawback? Cold winter winds.
