Turnovers that plagued Notre Dame in their season opener have helped them to an early lead against Michigan. On its fourth play from scrimmage, Michigan fumbled a screen pass, and the Irish recovered on the 11 yard line.
It took Notre Dame less than a minute to capitalize. Robert Hughes punches it in from 3 yards out, giving the Irish a 7-0 lead three minutes into the game.
It took less than a minute for Notre Dame to score again. Michigan fumbled the ensuing kick-off and Mike Anello recovers.
Three plays later, Jimmy Clausen hits Duval Kamara for a 10-yard touchdown.
With 11:00 remaining in the 1st quarter, Notre Dame 14. Michigan 0.
It's not supposed to be this easy!
Michigan's longest drive sputtered just past mid-field, and Notre Dame has scored again. A one play, 63-yard drive has the Irish in control early. Freshman Mike Floyd drew a 15-yard pass interference penalty, and on the very next play, Jimmy Clausen threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate. It's the longest pass play of Clausen's career.

Michigan is on the scoreboard. Steven Threet found Sam McGuffie underneath, and McGuffie bobbed and weaved 40 yards for the touchdown.
Late 1st quarter: Notre Dame 21 - Michigan 7
Golden Contribution.
A 60-yard catch and run by sophomore Golden Tate highlights another touchdown drive for Notre Dame.
Tate caught a slant from Clausen, and broke a number of tackles, bringing the ball deep into Michigan territory. It's the longest play for Notre Dame since the 2006 season.
The drive ended in another short touchdown run for Robert Hughes.
Halftime score: Notre Dame 28 - Michigan 17
Another untimely turnover for Michigan has swung the momentum Notre Dame's way. The Wolverines had marched the length of the field, and were only a few yards away from the goalline, when David Bruton stripped Michael Shaw and Sergio Brown recovered.
For Burton, it's the 2nd touchdown saving forced fumble in as many week. Irish still on top, 28-17.
Raindrops keep falling, and so does the football.
Michigan's 4th lost fumble of the day may have done the in. On the first play of the 4th quarter, Steven Threet dropped the snap, and Notre Dame's Brian Smith recovered and returned it 40 yards for a defensive score.
