At least five homes were damaged after a tornado touched down in Paw Paw Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said the brief tornado started at the western end of the village, hitting trees before striking the John H. Tapper Inc. Car Sales on Michigan 40 just before 4:30 p.m.

The tornado continued east toward River and South La Grave streets, damaging the homes and taking down trees and power lines.

No one was injured, Paw Paw officials said.

Crews continue to remove debris and restore power to the area.

Van Buren County dispatchers told SBT24/7 News that the wild weekend weather has left countless roads swamped, and there were numerous reports of tree limbs down and other storm damage.
