SOUTH BEND – A man told police he was walking his dog near the IUSB campus when two men stole his dog.

According to police reports, the 23-year-old man said he was walking "Justice," a pit bull terrier, in the 1700 block of Mishawaka Avenue about 9 p.m. Tuesday, when he was approached by two males who drove up and parked in a maroon Cadillac with a paper plate.

The men started petting the dog, asked its owner if he liked to let his dog fight, and if it would make a good fighting dog.

Police said the men talked for several minutes, before one of the men punched the dog’s owner in the face. The two men then ran off with the dog, climbing into the car and driving away.

Police said the man couldn’t provide a full description of the men, other than they both had pony tails.
