Teen faces adult charges in Washington gun incident

SOUTH BEND — A 17-year-old South Bend teen has been charged as an adult in connection with Tuesday’s discovery of a handgun at Washington High School.

Rakeem M. White faces one count of carrying a handgun without a license within one thousand feet of school property, a Class C felony, and one count of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.

The teen is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bond.
