MISHAWAKA — Police arrested a Grissom Middle School teacher Thursday for child seduction.

Brooke Biggs is a teacher and a coach for the district. She teaches seventh and eighth grade PE at Grissom, and is an assistant girls basketball and softball coach at Penn High School.

The school district told WSBT News the student is in high school.

A PHM spokesperson says Biggs has been on administrative leave since September 4 but the St. Joseph County Domestic Violence Unit started their investigation two months before that in July.

Teachers were briefed about the situation Thursday afternoon.

PHM Spokesperson Teresa Carroll released the following statement to WSBT News:

“This is a confidential personnel matter, so we cannot discuss it. However I can tell you we are very concerned about the welfare of our students and we do not tolerate the violation of trust our parents have placed in us.”

Neither police nor the prosecutor’s office is commenting on the investigation.
