SOUTH BEND — South Bend Police had detained at least two people early Sunday in connection with a break-in at Washington High School.

City 911 dispatchers said they received a call at 10:40 p.m. Saturday for the high school, located in the 4700 block of West Washington Street on the city's far west side.

Although there were unconfirmed reports of vandalism and possible burglary, few other details were released as officers continued to investigate the suspicious activity at the school.

At least some of the activity was in the school's pool area, according to initial reports.

I wish this story was updated bcuz I heard it was Adams & Clay students that broke in and stole from us. Time to put other schools in the negative spotlight instead of just WHS! People probably think this was more Washington students in trouble due to the other issues lately.

Were this kids homeless and they were looking for a bed to sleep in? Probable the coach gave them the kee out of kindness of his heart so they can have a bed under their heads. There are lots of kids homeless and it is no wonder that they have to look for a place in the school to get a good night sleep. After all they are there all day long and knows the knicks and tricks of the school and they just get in when they need something. The social worker should tell more about this kids lives.

Children should be in bed by 10 40 but in this case they were at school trying who know what. The overnight custudian must be scared because you hear so many sounds at night and the school is so big that you have to go all over the place to find out where the activity is or the break in too place. No wonder custodians are so sleepless and overworked during their shift something is gona go on. So they have to keep an eye who is around and call the cops right away before is too late. Guns may be

Trebi, do you see an age mentioned? Why assume the worse in people? I would venture to guess that these are two exceptional students who realized they didn't have the required text books to work with to earn extra credit in a English and just had to get inside to gather the materials they needed so that they could spend the most constructive weekend time possible. People tend to live up to or down to peoples expectations of them. Let us set realistic but virtuous goals for our youth. GO CUBBIES!
