Crews battle fire at two buildings in South Bend
South Bend fire crews battled a big fire on Western Avenue Tuesday night. (WSBT photo by Nick Scholten) SOUTH BEND — Fire crews shut down busy Western Avenue Tuesday night to fight a fire at two buildings. Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of Western about 9:30 p.m. The fire damaged a home and the W.E.L. Barbershop, which also housed a family. Investigators are searching for a cause, but the owner of the barber shop says his wood burning stove was in use. "I'm just really glad that nobody got hurt," said Kenneth Lax, whose business and home were damaged. No one was hurt. Most Popular
