SOUTH BEND -- An investigation is underway after thousands of allegedly fake voter registration applications were sent to Lake County.

Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita says he has "credible evidence" of voter fraud involving ACORN. It's a community-based organization that helps register low-income people.

That same group also dropped off dozens of voter registration applications in St. Joseph County on Monday.

Officials don't know if any of those are fraudulent because they haven't been processed yet. Rokita says protecting voters and taxpayers is most important.

He spoke to WSBT News while attending the 3rd annual Medicine Ball in South Bend Saturday night.

"What I'm asking the St. Joseph County election board to do is to notify us if they see something that they believe is fraudulent. And I will be up here with my investigators to secure the material, get copies and we will treat St. Joseph County as we have treated other Indiana counties in terms of attention on this matter," said Rokita.

St. Joseph County officials hope to have voter registration applications processed by the end of next week.

There's a number of prominent Republicans who have worked with ACORN to enact legislation, including John McCain himself when he served as a keynote speaker at an ACORN-sponsored event. Google it: McCain ACORN Miami Dade. Other notable Republicans working with ACORN include Charlie Crist, Tim Pawlenty, Mel Martinez, and Mitt Romney. One other thing: is ACORN required by law to turn in all registration cards? Journalism is dead.

If Obama had an integrity he would insist that ACORN be shut down for its widespead fraud. It's not voter fraud YET doesn't fly. Fraud is fraud. ACORN has received enough money to have oversight and quality control. These are not errors. This is my money being spent on fraudulent practices. Besides whatever happened to personal responsibility. It doesn't cost that much for one outing to register to vote. Nobody has knocked on my front door to register me and I'm far from well off.

This election should be postponed, military law temporarliy installed and a complete investigation begun by the FBI into the banking scandal, the candidates, the lobbying industry, local and state government, business, and Congress itself. Our beloved country, gift from God and formerly the envy of the world, has devolved into a sick joke devoid of any nobility. A national task force similar to the FBI Untouchables of the '30s must be formed and given the powers to straighten this situation out.

Folks: Acorn is being investigated in 11 states. Their employees have been charged with voter fraud in at least on instance. In Washington state in 2006, ACORN turned in 1800 registrations, only six were real names. There's widespread fraud in Ohio, Nevada, Indiana (in Lake County and sadly, as will be revealed in due time, St. Joe County). This is what GOTV has resulted for our system: FRAUD! We should be outraged! Don't vote for Obama! He did work for them so they could do this fraud stuff!

Voter fraud is rampant in some cities. Dead people vote because the oposition supporters go at night and collect all names of the dead and stick them on the ballot. Ever since they have died we dont really know how many times this difunct people voted. Purge all the registration affiliations, and all new voters should be tested on the lie detector test so they will tell the truth of who they really are. Chicago and Detroit people should not register here with new names and the old names are over

Any one think that maybe the people that ACORN hired to sign up voters just did not do their job? Faked it. And under state laws it is illegal to not turn in any of the registrations that were collected by these employees? Fraudulent registration maybe. it is not vote fraud. It is also interesting the party of Lincoln is so afraid of the disadvantaged and the disenfranchised. Just check the registrations like they should be. That should weed out the fake ones.

10:18 how right you are! That's the point cornfusion was making. They are instituting a program under the guise of purity and fair play that is nothing more than a welcome mat for exactly the demographic you have described, which is exactly the mainstream voter profile in Anytown USA. Between the news reporters telling us what they want us to hear because it makes for better news and politicians who are using their influence to enhance one candidate over this election is already a done deal.

What I predicted has come true. With the way they would let anybody register voters anywhere, it would open up the doors to illegal registrations. I feel that if a person really wanted to register to vote they can go to the BMV or the clerks office. Don't give me the excuse that poor people can not do that. IF they can go to the grocery store to buy the luxary items, they can go and register to vote.

If you watched the story he meant credible evidence of ACORN fraud throughout the USA in 12 states, not our county, you idiot. Thank God we have someone like him to protect the sacred right to vote without having it diluted by fraudulent votes. At least he's protecting us unlike the Ohio secretary of state.

Okay, I'm scared! What the hell does an Indiana official know about anything with the word 'creditable' in it? In terms of treating St. Joseph County like they have treated every other county, please don't! That's like a nursing home rep telling an old man that if he comes to live in their facility he'll be treated like family and he replies if he wanted to be treated like family he'd stay where he's at! Don't be shooting your mouth off about what you will do. Do something then tell us about it!
