3 charged in River Park homicide; police say marijuana involved

SOUTH BEND — Criminal charges have been filed against three men in the shooting death of 30-year-old Justin A. Bird on Tuesday.

The three suspects have been charged as follows:

James E. Bucher Jr., 36, faces one count of robbery, a class A felony, one count of felony murder and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, a class A felony.

Jacob Manriquez, 20, faces the same charges as Bucher.

Alex R. Milewski, 20, faces one count of murder, one count of robbery, a class A felony, and one count of felony murder.

The three defendants will be arraigned Monday in St. Joseph Superior Court.

The men were arrested after an investigation revealed that Bird was killed during an altercation involving the sale of marijuana.

Bird was shot inside a residence in the 3600 block of Mishawaka Avenue.
